Top Ten Fantasy Authors
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

1. J.K. Rowling (Harry Potter)
How could she NOT make this list? She's probably the reason I fell in love with the fantasy genre to begin with.

2. Kristin Cashore (Graceling)
I only read these books over the summer, but I fell in love with them. They're a must read!

3. Libba Bray (Gemma Doyle, The Diviners)
Libba Bray is brilliant and awesome and amazing. Period.

4. Cornelia Funke (Inkheart, The Thief Lord)
Her writing style is so immersing and the Inkheart trilogy is absolutely wonderful.

5. Madeleine L'Engle (A Wrinkle in Time)
Another author who is largely responsible for my love of fantasy. I really need to reread A Wrinkle in Time!

6. Christopher Paolini (Eragon)
While I wouldn't say the Inheritance Cycle is the best fantasy series I've ever read, these books still have a special place in my heart.

7. Michael Scott (The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel)
This series is so brilliantly plotted and really just fantastic.

8. Cassandra Clare (for The Infernal Devices)
I'm currently working on TMI, which I like so far, although I *love* The Infernal Devices

That's all for this week! I like a lot of fantasy authors, but because this is my favorite genre, I'm more picky, and can only think of 8 whom I would consider my absolute favorite authors.

What genre did you pick?

  1. All of these that I've read I love so so much. Some of my favorite authors. Rowling and Cashore and Clare and FUnke seriously some brilliant ladies. I definitely need to make my way through the rest. I am such a fantasy girl I pushed myself out of my comfort zone this week and did contemporary plus some cheats haha

  2. I chose speculative fiction for my top ten so there's not a lot of overlap but I enjoyed your list. What about ursula LeGuin - I think she's a wonderful fantasy writer.

  3. I adore J.K and Cornelia Funke (have you read Reckless? It's amazing!) They're both such stunning authors with wonderful storytelling abilities! They're two of my favourite authors, but the only one I've read from your list!

    Happy top ten!

  9. I've stayed away from The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel because I assumed it was Harry Potter based... is this true?
I'm a bigger TID fan over TMI too. I think its because I started Clare's books with Clockwork Prince

  11. I picked fantasy this week too! We both got JKR and Michael Scott on our lists, and I'm actually planning to read the others as soon as possible! Except for Paolini though, his books were just too derivative for me :(
Would love it if you checked out my TTT @ Fiction Predictions!
