The Great Gatsby Movie

Wednesday, May 23, 2012
As a little precursor to the Book Thoughts post that will be coming soon, here's the first, brand new trailer for the new DiCaprioed The Great Gatsby movie:

A few comments:
Well, this movie is beating the 1974 version in one area, which is OWL EYES, of course. My favorite character from Gatsby unfortunately wasn't included in the Robert Redford flick, but he's in this one!!

Unfortunately, it appears as though they are trying to make this new adaptation racier in order to get a bigger audience? Or something? The scene with Meyer Wolfsheim, were they in a strip club? Because that did not happen in the book and it's just kind of unnecessary.

And yeah, I'm a little concerned that this is being directed by the guy who made possibly the WORST (in my opinion) adaptation of Romeo and Juliet... ever.

But there's still the wait till Christmas day when it opens, so I'm trying to stay open-minded till then!

What did you think of the trailer? Are you excited for Leo as Gatsby??

  1. I don't know...I have a hard time not seeing Mia Farrow as Daisy and Robert Redford as Gatsby. But I do approve of casting Toby Maguire. The film looks pretty awesome visually, but I think I'm probably going to have a hard time detaching myself from the original:) But, it does bring the book to the attention of a new generation, and that's VERY cool.

  2. I have just downloaded iStripper, so I can watch the sexiest virtual strippers on my taskbar.

Your comments brighten my day. :)
