Mini Reviews
Books I've Wanted To Review But Haven't Had The Time To Do So

You Against Me by Jenny Downham (link will take you to Goodreads summary)
Genre: Realistic Fiction
Publisher: David Fickling Books

You Against Me

I loved this book so much! It was full of passion, anger, angst, pain, love, compassion... in short, You Against Me is just jam-packed with emotion. Downham perfectly portrays real-life problems in both family and romantic relationships. Ellie and Mikey are perfect protagonists and every characterization is incredibly realistic.

One Day by David Nicholls

Rating: 3.9 stars

One Day

This was okay, but it wasn't anything special. The main problem is that Dexter and Emma aren't particularly likable. For most of the novel, Dexter is rude, pompous, and self-absorbed while Emma is insecure, causing her to be overly sarcastic. Overall, it's enjoyable, but it's hard to really care about whether Dex and Em ever get together. That said, some parts are really touching and emotional.

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin
Genre: Paranormal

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer (Mara Dyer, #1)

Finally, a paranormal book that stands out from the rest of its genre! Mara Dyer is a thriller, with well done flashbacks and a wicked plot. Mara is sarcastic and tough (but with a sweet side), and Noah is the kind of romantic interest no YA reader can resist. Michelle Hodkin's debut novel is definitely dark, but it can be funny, too and Mara's family is wonderful. I can't wait for the sequel!

Going Bovine

I couldn't review this book when I finished it. I guess it was one of "those books", the ones that are just too special to try to put a label on. Going Bovine made me laugh, cry, etc, etc.Simply put, Libba Bray has crafted another masterpiece.

Ten Things We Did (And Probably Shouldn't Have) by Sarah Mlynowski

Ten Things We Did (and Probably Shouldn't Have)
Ten Things is fun and witty, yet serious, too, with an awesome premise. It's a chick novel that doesn't just focus on romance (although that's definitely part of it), but also deals with friendship, family, and growing up. It will make you laugh, but it will also break your a heart a little.

Glow by Amy Kathleen Ryan
Genre: Science Fiction
Publisher: St. Martin's Griffin
Series: Sky Chasers #1

Rating: 4.3 stars

Glow (Sky Chasers, #1)

What was most remarkable about Glow was the relationship between the two protagonists. Although Kieran and Waverly are separated for the majority of the book, the reader still gets a strong sense of their feelings for each other. Seth's character is dangerously intriguing, as are the pasts of the adults aboard the two spaceships. No one can be trusted, and it adds to the mystery and action. My only complaint is that Waverly seems to be strangely calm in perilous situations.

Have you read any (or all) of these books? Which one was your favorite?

    1. Haha probablement, mais I haven't gotten around to reading it yet. J'ai senti que Seth n'est pas développé suffisamment dans Glow- hopefully, le prochain livre est mieux, en ce sens.
